University degree in translation

A degree in English and Italian from the University of Heidelberg Institute for Translation and Interpreting not only taught Tatjana Heckmann the theoretical principles of linguistics but also gave her in-depth subject expertise in technical and legal matters. She uses the very latest computer-aided terminology and translation systems to ensure maximum efficiency and accuracy and a modern workflow.

To make sure her work is of the highest standard at all times, the translator undertakes continuing professional development on an ongoing basis. Please see below for a list of seminars attended in the last two years. References are available on request.

Cultural competences

Knowledge of the working languages and the culture-specific peculiarities of each country are part of the tools of all good translators. Only a 360° view for a country and its people, its language and culture, as well as an unwavering interest in the current developments of the countries in which the working languages are spoken, make it possible to understand the context and to translate the source text correctly.

Regular stays in the countries of my working languages and attending seminars, workshops and conferences help me keep my language and translation skills up to date and keep me abreast of developments in my specialist fields.
